American Revolutionary War~List of Websites and Online Tools
PROJECT DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS
Students will work in cooperative groups to research a specific topic (event, person or legislation/document) about the American
Revolution and publish an online issue of the class magazine, The Revolutionary Times. Each student will have one page in the magazine to complete.

Each student's 2 page spread must include AT A MINIMUM (that means you can certainly do MORE):
I. 2 pictures and a photo gallery (slide show) with at least 3-4 pictures, including brief captions.
II. 2 text boxes (one paragraph for each):
TEXT BOX 1:
  • Background information about your topic (Who, What, Where, When)
  • Interesting or important/key facts
TEXT BOX 2:
  • Specific role this person or event played/contributed in/to the American Revolution
  • Significant contributions (why we remember this topic and/or how influenced the outcome of the American Revolution)
III. Choose 2 of the following options:
  • Short video (or clip) with your commentary or summary
  • Appropriate/effective sound effect
  • Sound recording (podcast) done by you (use Audacity) [Examples: quote, slogan/saying, brief paragraph or have your idea approved by the teacher]
  • 1 external links to “more information about your topic”
  • Did you know or Fun Facts (extra) text box
IV. At least 3 different research sources (book, websites, magazine articles, database, videos)--These will be added to the group Bibliography using Noodletools on the back cover of your issue!

Once your bibliography is finished, click the button to Print/Export to Word. This will open your Bibliography in a Word document. Then, you need to take a screen shot of it to save it as a picture (jpeg) file so it can be uploaded to your JooMag magazine issue.

  • Please click to download this Word document to your computer (use your DPS server account--your student ID # found under "Computer" on the left side of your screen.
  • Then upload the document to your Google Drive
  • Open the document with "Google Docs" to convert it to the Google form of Word
  • Move the document into your class folder and use it to take notes

When your magazine cover is completed, follow the steps to save a "screen shot" copy of it (see the Noodletools box above).
This site offers a wide variety of tools; we will be using the magazine cover generator. This tool will let you put in headlines, by-lines, background images and other ways to display information. Use this tool to summarize/provide a conclusion for your topic selection. Once you done, you must take a screen shot of the page, then upload it to a separate page on your wiki.
